![]() ![]() Update: I reviewed my A50 headset after 1 year of use. The good news is my neighbor’s wifi signal is much weaker so it doesn’t cause interference with my Astro A50 and my issue has been fixed. When I manually switched my router to channel 48 I saw my neighbor’s router auto switch to the higher channels to not overlap my router. How it worked for me: My router was set to auto select channel and seemed to be switching to the higher channels because of a neighbor’s router using the lower channels. You can verify what wifi channels are being used around you with something like WiFi Explorer for Mac or a similar Windows program. The fix: If you change your router settings to use channels 48 - 116 instead of the higher channels it should fix the problem, unless you have other wireless interference also. I especially noticed the issue when using my iPhone (on wifi) while wearing the headset so this makes sense. TL DR If you have a 5GHz wireless router it’s very likely that it’s the cause of the interference. The Astro A50 transmitter uses channels 149 - 165, so if your router uses the same channels it can be a problem. I love my headset otherwise so I did some Google investigation and finally found a forum post about it. I was having occasional issues with the sound in my headset cutting in and out, especially with loud and complex sound effects or music. Tip for Astro A50 wireless headset owners who have issues with signal interference ![]()
